I love the WayBack Machine. It is a great procrastination tool on a Friday afternoon. As well as laughing at my firm’s website years ago I was also struck at how similar Apple’s website is to the one that existed over 12 years ago. The various elements have evolved over time but the structure hasn’t changed at all.
Whilst most companies redesign their website every 3-5 years, why has Apple not? It isn’t budget issues. Is it fear? Is it a case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”?
There aren’t many companies that go for this ‘splash page’ type design anymore – instead favouring a home page that features a bit more content (although the AMC website is an exception to this rule with our cool home page).
